Dr. Astrid Insull, Ph.D.

Dr. Astrid Insull is a licensed clinical psychologist at MindWell NYC. She specializes in the treatment of eating disorders and has been extensively trained in Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT-E), Family Based Treatment (FBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and exposure therapy (EX/RP, Mirror Exposure). She also has significant interest and experience in working with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma, substance use, emotion regulation challenges, and health behavior change. Dr. Insull is passionate about providing collaborative, compassionate, LGBTQ+ affirming care. Dr. Insull works with children, adolescents, and adults providing individual therapy, couples therapy, family therapy, and DBT group therapy.

Prior to joining MindWell NYC, Dr. Insull completed a post-doctoral fellowship at The Family, Exposure, and DBT Based Eating Disorder Center at Cohen Children’s Medical Center/Northwell Health, where she received training across inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient levels of care. She completed her APA accredited pre-doctoral internship at The New York Harbor Veterans Affairs, Brooklyn Campus, where she led individual, group, and couples therapy for veterans struggling with PTSD, interpersonal difficulties, transition and adjustment issues, substance abuse, and eating disorders. Dr. Insull completed externships at The Northport Veteran Affairs Medical Center’s Substance Abuse Residential Treatment Program, The Mount Sinai Eating and Weight Disorders Program, and Nassau University Medical Center, where she treated a range of diagnoses across the lifespan.

Dr. Insull earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University and her B.A. degrees in Psychology and Health, Medicine & Society from Lehigh University.
