What is an Exposure Therapy Intensive?

Our Exposure Therapy Intensive is a focused program that provides a “boot camp” for tackling your fears quickly in a structured and supportive environment. This is more than traditional therapy – it’s an immersive experience designed to help you face and reduce your specific fears and anxieties through powerful, evidence-based exposure techniques.

What Can You Expect From an Exposure Therapy Intensive?

Each Exposure Therapy Intensive includes:
-A 90-minute intake session to understand your unique challenges and set clear goals.
-Choice of Schedule:
4 sessions (90 minutes each) over one week, or 8 sessions (45 minutes each) spread across two weeks.
-Customized Treatment Plan: Every session is tailored to address your specific fears, compulsions, or obsessions.
-Flexible Options: Sessions can be held in person, virtually, or as a combination to best suit your needs.
-Follow-Up Options: Continue with weekly or biweekly sessions if additional support is needed.

How Does Exposure Therapy Help Reduce Anxiety and Fear?

Our therapists apply effective, research-backed techniques to help reduce anxiety and empower you to face fears confidently:

  • In Vivo (Real-Life) Exposure: Confront your fears in real-life settings with therapist support. Whether in-office or out, this hands-on approach builds resilience by facing challenges directly.

  • Imaginal Exposure: Mentally engage with feared scenarios in a safe, guided environment. This technique helps reduce emotional impact, especially for fears that are harder to encounter in everyday life.

  • Virtual Reality Exposure: Experience challenging scenarios in a virtual environment, ideal for specific phobias like flying or public speaking. This controlled exposure helps you practice facing fears with realistic immersion.

Each method is customized to your comfort and progress level, helping you make meaningful strides.

What Conditions Can Benefit from Exposure Therapy Intensives?

This approach is effective for a range of anxiety and fear-based challenges, including:

  • Fear of Flying
  • Social Anxiety
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Specific Phobias like fear of heights, animals, blood-injection-injury phobia, and more.

Is an Intensive Right for You?
An Exposure Therapy Intensive may be a great fit if:

  • You want a fast, effective start to managing anxiety and fears.
  • You’re preparing for an event, like a trip, that involves confronting a fear.
  • You’re in therapy for other issues but want additional support for anxiety or OCD.
  • You’ve tried exposure therapy on your own but feel more support is needed.
  • You have time available (like school or work breaks) to invest in focused progress.

How Exposure Therapy Intensives Work

  1. Intake & Goal Setting
Treatment begins with a 90-minute intake session focused on understanding your specific fears, anxiety patterns, and goals. Your therapist collaborates with you to identify target challenges and design a structured plan for the intensive.
  2. Assessment & Planning
Your therapist determines the most appropriate exposure strategies based on your needs, comfort level, and timeline. This may include real-life, imaginal, or virtual exposure approaches.
  3. Focused Exposure Sessions
You participate in a series of targeted exposure sessions over one or two weeks. Each session is designed to help you gradually face fears, reduce avoidance, and build confidence in a supportive, guided environment.
  4. Skill Integration & Practice
As sessions progress, you practice applying coping strategies and exposure skills both during and between sessions. This helps reinforce learning and increase confidence in everyday situations.
  5. Follow-Up & Continued Support
After the intensive, clients may choose to continue with weekly or biweekly therapy to maintain progress, address additional concerns, or deepen skill integration as needed.

You May Have Some Questions About CBT…

Therapy is an investment, but it’s one that provides lasting benefits. Our Exposure Therapy Intensive is $3200, which covers all sessions. This can be paid in for in full, in two $1800 installments, or four $900 installments. This structured, targeted approach could save you time and money in the long run by helping you tackle and manage your fears effectively. We can also provide a superbill for insurance reimbursement, which may help offset the cost.

While everyone’s experience is different, many people find that intensive, focused exposure therapy helps them progress more quickly than traditional weekly sessions. By working intensively over a short period, you have the chance to confront and reduce your anxieties with less time in between, which often leads to stronger results.

Real-life exposure can feel daunting, but our program includes multiple options to ensure you’re comfortable. We can begin with imaginal or virtual reality exposure, gradually working toward real-life scenarios. Your therapist will guide you through every step, ensuring that progress matches your comfort level.

Our intensives are designed to give you a strong foundation in a short time, but everyone’s journey is unique. If you’d like additional support, we can extend your sessions or transition to a more flexible ongoing schedule to help maintain and build on your progress.
