MindWell NYC is a group of therapists and people who are deeply committed to growing and providing culturally responsive care. We are dedicated to learning about ourselves, our clients, ours and our clients’ cultural and racial histories, and the powerful forces that continue to shape our lives in order to provide sensitive and effective treatment. We are an antiracist organization actively involved in clinical training, discussion, advocacy, and collaboration to address our own biases and the emotional and mental health effects of racism.

Meet our team

Dr. Rachel L. Hutt is Co-founder of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist. She has specific expertise and interest in helping parents learn strategies and support for managing the needs and challenges for children of all ages. She provides individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults with anxiety, depression, and behavioral challenges. She is Board Certified in DBT through the Linehan Board of Certification (DBT-LBC™).
Dr. Jessica Renz is Co-founder of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist. She provides thoughtful and flexible individual and group psychotherapy services to women experiencing symptoms of generalized anxiety, panic, OCD, interpersonal challenges, and depression in addition to challenges with health, life transitions, and stressors. She specializes in helping her clients learn skills to decrease distress and to incorporate resilience and confidence in their daily lives. Informed by experience working with womens' challenges related to shame, relationships, and problematic behavior, she incorporates acceptance and change-based strategies in a forward moving process that helps her clients to be more brave. She leads MindWell NYC's The Daring Way program based on the work of Dr. Brené Brown and is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF).
Dr. Rebecca B. Skolnick is Co-founder of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist. She has particular expertise and interest in exposure therapy for phobias, anxiety, and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Dr. Skolnick also specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for eating disorders in women and men. Dr. Skolnick provides individual and group therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults.
Dr. Rebecca Berger is Clinical Director of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and has particular expertise and interest in exposure therapy for anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Dr. Berger has significant experience treating college students and the college-age population. Dr. Berger practices CBT and DBT and has training in Exposure and Response Prevention (EX/RP), Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She provides individual, couples, and group therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults and leads MindWell NYC's ACT groups.
Dr. Teri Preddy is Child and Adolescent Clinical Director of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist. She specializes in utilizing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and mindfulness approaches with individuals throughout the lifespan. She has particular expertise and interest in helping children, teens, and their families learn strategies to manage emotional and behavioral challenges and improve communication. She provides individual and group therapy to children, adolescents, and adults.
Dr. Monica Ierardo is Group Director of MindWell NYC and a licensed clinical psychologist. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for adolescents, young adults, and adults with a range of issues such as mood disorders, trauma, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. She provides individual and group therapy at MindWell NYC.
Madelyn Bart is a licensed clinical social worker at MindWell NYC. She specializes in cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), with a particular expertise and interest in treating anxiety, difficulty managing emotions, eating disorders, and trauma. Madelyn provides individual and group therapy to adolescents, young adults, and adults at MindWell NYC.
Dr. Brad Stevens is a licensed clinical psychologist at MindWell NYC. He provides relationally-oriented cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to adults and adolescents. Dr. Stevens is trained in cognitive-behavioral, experiential, and attachment-based approaches to support individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and/or relationship difficulties. He is passionate about providing care to members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and he offers individual and group psychotherapy.
Dr. Khadijah Cyril is a postdoctoral fellow at MindWell NYC. She has specific expertise and interest in helping children, adolescents, adults, and families learn strategies to support their social and emotional needs in school, clinical, and college settings. She provides individual and group therapy to people of all ages experiencing anxiety, behavioral challenges, depression, trauma, race-related stress, and insomnia using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
Dr. Gillian Sternheim is a postdoctoral fellow at MindWell NYC. She works with individuals across the lifespan, specializing in the treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, parents and families. She utilizes an integrative, relationally-oriented approach to cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) that incorporates attachment theory and mindfulness in order to best meet client needs. Dr. Sternheim treats a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, and behavioral problems, as well as relationship and family concerns, parenting difficulties, school-related issues, identity development, and life transitions.
Dr. Cara Weiner is a postdoctoral fellow at MindWell NYC. She has specific expertise and interest in providing evidence-based treatments to adolescents and young adults with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, personality disorders, and trauma. She provides individual and group therapy to people of all ages using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).
Krista Lee is a mental health counselor and the intake coordinator at MindWell NYC. She responds to inquiries, matches clients with clinicians, and outreaches to other providers in the community.
