Dr. Hayley Maisel, Psy.D.

Dr. Hayley Maisel is a post-doctoral fellow at MindWell NYC who provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy for children, adolescents and adults. She has particular expertise in eating disorders, trauma, and personality disorders, including challenges related to self-harm and suicidality. She also has extensive experience treating anxiety and mood disorders. Dr. Maisel provides dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) at MindWell NYC.

Dr. Maisel prioritizes building a strong therapeutic alliance and believes meaningful change happens when clients feel safe, understood, and actively involved in their treatment. She works collaboratively with clients to navigate intense emotions and life challenges, helping them build lives that feel more aligned with their goals.

She is extensively trained in evidence-based treatments, including DBT, CBT, prolonged exposure (PE), DBT-prolonged exposure (DBT-PE), and family-based treatment (FBT).

Prior to joining MindWell NYC, Dr. Maisel completed her APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship at Trinitas Regional Medical Center in Elizabeth, NJ, providing evidence-based care across outpatient, partial hospital, and residential settings. She delivered comprehensive DBT to adolescents and adults through Linehan Board Certified (DBT-LBC™) programs and provided advanced trauma-focused interventions, gaining extensive experience with complex cases. She also completed clinical externships at Northwell’s Zucker Hillside Hospital (Behavioral Health College Partnership), providing DBT and CBT to young adults in outpatient care, and at Cohen Children’s Medical Center (Eating Disorder Center), providing FBT to adolescents in inpatient and partial hospital settings.

Dr. Maisel earned her Psy.D. in Clinical and School Psychology and M.A. in Psychology from the Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University, and her B.S. from Iowa State University.
